Friday July 28 Barrio Funky brings their vibe to Alex’s Bar in Long Beach. This line up does not happen just anywhere, Barrio funky brings it to you with 3 stellar acts, starting off with headliner Buyepongo.
The name Buyepongo means “to cause a ruckus” –which certainly describes the scene on the dance floors of Los Angeles whenever the band launches into its dizzyingly energetic, instantly infectious rhythms. But it also describes Buyepongo’s riotous mash-up of influences, which absorbs hip-hop, punk, funk, and jazz sounds into a delirious tropical blend of styles from across the Latin American diaspora. Like its name, the band is part hybrid, part invention, something untranslatable that nevertheless perfectly captures its uniquely vibrant spirit.

La Diabla is an infectious rhythm, five faces strategically concealed behind sunglasses and bandanas, and is credited with creating an appetite for Colombian Roots Cumbia in Tijuana and its sister city of San Diego. This band stays true to traditional instruments such as the accordion, guacaracha, and caja valleneta. La Diabla translates to "The She-Devil," and will seduce audiences with Cumbia Sabanera throughout Los Angeles and Southern California and beyond.
Spaghetti cumbia Los Reyes del cumbiaquero un poco cumbia un poco vaquero.
With special guest Dj Cono (TacoTuesday)
As always your residents will be there to light a fire under your shoes, King Steady Beat, Soul Libre, Fresko, Alex Ramirez.
