Sat, Dec 23, 2006 - KNACDC Live Metal Karaoke... They play you sing - $FREE
Well... we are all old Metal heads that grew up in or around the South Bay area of Los Angeles. We all grew up listening to metal and/or hard rock but eventually, in the early to mid eighties we migrated over to the harder stuff. Bands like Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, Anthrax, Voivod, Celtic Frost, Venom etc. Our individual tastes vary depending on who you ask, but none of that matters. We are all about the METAL! We have all played and/or still play in bands that have had varying degrees of success, or failure - depending on how you view the glass per say. Phil used to play guitar for the bands Wargod and Phantasm way back when. Marco and Kimokeo Bender played in a band called One Eye Open for a little while. Kimokeo played in Death By Stereo at one point in time. Mr. Webb still plays in a band that has been around since mosty of us were in high school back in the mid eighties - called PKG. The best thing about Webb is that he likes to pretend he is Leo Sayer by putting on a big fro wig and talking to us in that special voice that only Leo Sayer can give. Love it! Ask him about it sometime. Seriously! A new addition to the KNAC/DC group is Paul. Paul has replaced Owenscamp Mulrooney - who has moved to NY to persue a career in persuing a career. We love Owenscamp and will deeply miss him. Paul, does shred. Yes, I said shred. Back when we were all still amphibians he played guitar for Silent Scream. Paul will continue to provide his riffery to the Metal cause. We are very glad. Our friend Alex, who we go way back with, has a bar (Alex's Bar). Many a great rock show has passed through Alex's - and damn his drinks are strong!! Alex had struck gold with an 80's themed Karaoke band, so he thought he would try his luck at METAL KARAOKE. He asked us if we would be willing to put together a HEAVY METAL KARAOKE BAND - and we said "DONE". Sounds hilarious. It is!!! What a train wreck to watch a bunch of drunk dudes (and chicks) get up there still thinking they "got it" and belting out an old metal classic. Totally worth the price of admission - which incidentally is ZERO. Anyway... we began practicing in October of 2005 and the rest is history. Let's see how long we can keep this goin.- From KNACDC's MySpace Page
