Alex and Jackie handle all booking through bookinginfo@alexsbar.com.
:: Do ::
- Email bookinginfo@alexsbar.com or jackieo@alexsbar.com
- Send us your website with mp3s, or a myspace or purevolume site so that we can hear your sound. If you don’t have it together enough to have a website with mp3s on it, we won’t book you.
- Come down to Alex’s Bar and see what our venue is like (21 and over only).
- We always recommend Touring bands to have at least 2 local bands on a bill.
PROMOTE YOUR SHOW! Myspace, your website, flyers, posters, local papers, word of mouth. See our Media Resource section for help with promotion.
:: Don’t ::
- Don’t send unsolicited CDs/Press Kits – it is a waste of your time and resources and they will most likely become ninja stars or coasters.
- NEVER call us with your booking requests. We only work through email.
- Don’t keep emailing us over and over about your band. Once is enough. Badgering and over persistance will annoy us and you won’t get a show.
- Don’t ask to play here unless your whole band is over 21. Come back and see us when you all are of age.
- Don’t play a local show within two weeks before or after you play Alex’s Bar. You will only hurt your draw if you play too much in one area, and your friends will get sick of supporting you.
- Don’t contact us if you suck and you know that you suck, save both of our times and practice more before you hit us up for a show. Also, don’t tell us you have a draw when you don’t and then you clear the room.
Alex’s Bar has shows Thursday through Sunday nights. All shows are 21+ only.
Thursdays: Local and touring bands 8pm-12am (free-$3 cover)
Friday and Saturdays: Touring and proven local bands 8pm-1am (cover varies)
Sundays: Local and touring bands 7pm-11pm (cover varies)
We will do an occasional Wednesday show, but don’t count on it.
We prefer to not do more than one touring band on a bill unless they are a proven touring act.
Alex and Jackie love it when bands come to us with a full bill of local talent. If you have ideas for a bill let us know and we’ll try to find a spot for you on our calendar. If you are an out of town band and would like to play Alex’s, just ask a few local bands to jump on the show with you. That way everybody gets paid!
:: Advance Info ::
- Venue capacity is 178, and always 21+. Unless otherwise specified, load in is 8pm, and 6pm on Sundays.
- Line checks only.
- Doors at 9pm, and 7pm on Sundays.
- No advance tickets are provided; a door cover is the only way to attend any show.
- No hospitality or green room provided.
- 2 drink tickets and 1 guest per band member (unless otherwise specified).
- Parking lot provided behind venue. Please get to the club early in order to get parking.
- Bands caught drinking or doing drugs in their vehicles in or around the perimeter of the venue will immediately be thrown off the bill, and will not be asked back.
And remember…act responsibly on stage. Do not put your fans and our patrons in harms way, like throwing or breaking bottles, encouraging the crowd to break bottles, swinging the microphone or instruments into the audience, etc. It is not punk rock to harm others; we are all about having a good time, just not ending the night in the emergency room.
:: Media Resources ::
We ask that the bands scheduled to perform at our venue DO NOT play any other local show two weeks before or after your gig with us. Abuse of this policy will result in refusal to book your band for future shows.
Send a JPEG (100 dpi limit and no bigger than 100K or else we will just delete it) and a short bio to jackieo@alexsbar.com so that we can feature info about your band on our website.
